OVERFLOW
ART IN BOX Project:
Rome 2010 – 24 x 24 x 24
Japanese paper on canvas, fabric.
I thought I’d use an elastic lycra fabric as a box, to enclose, contain, carry 5 small canvases that make up my cube. It is a sort of network, very fragile, which only serves to curb the power of the “small river” that seeps through the individual frames. A traveller can hang the cube on the end of his stick, like a bundle, and occasionally untie the canvases, revealing signs that would otherwise remain hidden. Signs that leave a clear trace of their path, like the marks of the rain when it penetrates into the plaster of a house, trickling down to the ground, or the water lines on the windows that slide and then dry.
