“China is affecting my life, my works, my thoughts, my dreams, my fears. I have met hundreds of people, I have spoken with them, trying to understand their attitude, their feelings, their behaviors. I have read between the lines, to feel what was the difference between us. Someone told me he wasn’t able to express himself because nobody ever taught him how to do it, and he found it so hard to live with, I was really touched. People here are so reserved, but not used to have a lot of privacy, that’s why they are so curious. Curiosity towards me. Towards whatever is different, foreign. People staring at me, touching me and my works. I got used to it, sometimes it scared me, sometimes I felt uncomfortable, now I am amused. “Curiosity killed the cat”, but now I am curious about their curiosity. Will this game be allowed? What is going to happen? Will curiosity be a gift for the future of our creativity?”
